The Women's Shelter of Central Arkansas has been providing assistance to victims of family violence in central Arkansas since 1995.
What started out as a volunteer information hotline has grown into a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week hotline and shelter housing community
members in need of safety. Over the past 12 years we have grown to include a Sexual Assault Assistance/Recovery Program, support
groups, transportation for our clients, and personal, legal, and chilld advocacy programs.

What is an Order of Protection (also known as an OOP)?
An Order of Protection is an order, issued by the chancery judge, which provides victims of domestic violence who are in immediate and present
danger of domestic abuse, protection that can be enforced by the police and the courts.
Who can get an OOP?
- Spouse or ex-spouse of the batterer
- Current or live-in partner of a batterer
- Victims that have a child of a batterer
- A relative, parent, or guardian of a minor on behalf of a minor if
the minor is living or has lived with a batterer
What can the order do?
- Order the batterer to stay away from the victim's home, workplace,
child's school, or any other place the victim frequently goes
- Grant the victim temporary custody of minor children
- Order special conditions on child visitation
- Order other special conditions agreed to at the permanent hearing
