Volunteer Job Duties

Childcare Volunteer (This has been divided into two subcategories below)

*Childcare: Childcare is needed on Monday, 6:30-8:00p for Art Therapy, Thursday 6:30- 8:00p during the Life Skills classes, and/or just being on the list to call for unannounced childcare as the need arises.

*Children's Support Group Assistants: The children's support group assistant will not only include helping the staff with the children during group, but will include the responsibility of taking over group if the advocate has to take a call or has some other emergency. It will not involve you to make a lesson plan, just be available to handle the children if an emergency arises.

Jewelery Project Team The jewelery project team will assist staff and residents with the fundraising craft project. Shelter office volunteer (The shelter office volunteer category has been divided into two subcategories)

*Sunday lunches The Sunday lunches provide our weekend advocate with an hour and a half break. You would have to train on the hotline with staff present before you can be a Sunday lunch volunteer.

*Office Aid An office aid would basically spend time at the shelter office, helping the staff with filing, making copies, etc. The hours are flexible for this subcategory.

Sexual Assault Advocate The Sexual Assault Program offers support to sexual assault survivors through a 24-hour rape crisis line, primary & secondary victim advocacy, hospital outreach, support groups, legal advocacy and community education. Advocates respond to crisis calls from rape victims via phone and outreach to our local hospitals.
